Green beans and peas salad
This is a spiced version of a green beans and peas salad. This can be had on its own or with pita/papad as a snack.

Step 1

Put the beans in boiling salted water till they are cooked al dente. Drain and set aside. Do the same with the peas.

Step 2

In a blender, combine spice paste ingredients and grind to make a smooth paste. You may need to use a tablespoon of water to ensure that the mix blends together. Do not add too much water. You can use vegetable stock instead of water.

Step 3

Put coconut oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the tempering spices. When the spices crackle, add onion and saute till golden. Mix in the ground spice paste and cook for a few minutes till the onion and garlic cook. Add some stock/water in case the spice mix dries up. We want a moist spicecooked spice mix not a gravy. Add the beans and peas to the mix and let it cook for 2 minutes. Set aside. Serve hot with pita slices or papad.

My Notes
1. Add extra chilli powder if you like it spicy.
2. You can vary the quantities of beans and peas. I like it with 70% beans and 30% peas.
