Spicy tomato puree

This is a basic spicy tomato puree Turkish style that can used for dipping breads and grilled meats.

Method

Step 1

Boil the tomatoes and remove the skin. Finely chop the tomatoes.

Step 2

Trim and finely chop the scallions along with some of the green part.

Step 3

Finely dice the green pepper

Step 4

Mix all the ingredients in a food processor and pulse a couple of time to get a uniform consistency. Add salt to taste. Refrigerate for an hour and serve at room temperature with pita bread.

My Notes

1. This puree is greenish in color and not red despite having tomatoes in its title. You can add concentrated tomato paste to get a red color. You may also have to reduce the green pepper.
2. You can vary the quantity of lemon juice and white wine vinegar to adjust the sourness of the dip.
3. It is called Acili Domates Ezmesi in Turkish.
